Being a Brit in the US, I didn’t discover the Count until a few years ago. I think I managed to listen to all his radio shows before they were taken down. The Hillman Minx with Terry Wogan is still my favorite. Too bad the BBC archive doesn’t still have them available.

Having heard the radio show, I was almost, but not quite, slightly prepared for the first time I saw him on stage. When, at the end he had concussed himself, told us all off for having the television too loud and told us to go to bed, he wandered away, and we sat waiting. You could tell half the auduence were wondering when he would come back to take a bow, while those of us who "knew" Arthur were barely concealing our laughter at their confusion.

I wonder how many times they had to do that!?

Saw "Count Arthur Strong" at "The Grand Theatre" in my home town of Blackpool, and I'm so glad I did.... He was brilliant, and my face ached from laughing so much.

Count Arthur is great on radio and even better live. It is a shame the TV series was so bad by comparison.

If anybody wonders why this is so funny, it has one of the finest comic creations ever and is co-written by possibly the finest comedy writer ever: Graham Linehan (Father Ted, Black Books, The IT Crowd, Motherland).

Saw him live absolutely extraordinary 2 hours of mayhem and comedic timing from a true original

At first I was not a fan of the TV series. A few years later I watched all of the episodes on Netflix and really enjoyed them. The BBC made a ridiculous decision to pull the series just when the audience figures were increasing. Dave Mountfield who played the cafe owner Gerry in the radio series sadly passed away a few years ago.

Absolute comic genius!
